2020 Yarn Crawl

2020 Yarn Crawl

Come join us for the 2020 Yarn Crawl! Everyone is welcome to join the yarn crawl fun from 2/21 through 3/1! There will be 9 yarn shops participating in this year’s crawl. You don’t have to be a guild member to join the crawl, but you do have to be a paid member & visit ALL 9 shops to be eligible for the grand prize.

Some shops may offer door prizes & those are available to everyone who visits that shop. You don’t have to be a guild member for the yarn store prizes. ;o)

Guild members: a passport for the stores will be emailed to all paid members so keep a watch out for it. And make sure you’ve received your 2020 membership card, too, for any of the shops that offer guild discounts. Participating shops include A Bit O’Yarn, Criativity, Fab Fiber, Fiber Art Gallery, Four Purls, A Good Yarn, Needlefish Yarns, Stash St. Pete and Stash Tampa.

More information will be posted as it becomes available, so come back soon!

5th Thursday Yarn Swap!!!

5th Thursday Yarn Swap!!!

BAKG_small logo (2).png

When: January 30, 2020 at 6pm
Where: Queens Pizza & Restaurant
1834 N Belcher Rd, Clearwater, FL 33765

Our only rules are:  Bring ONE skein of yarn (only one not two…) that is at least 75% natural fiber & has a minimum value of $20.  You also need to include a “fun extra” to make the total value of your swap around $30.  Now, that fun extra can be anything you like, it doesn’t have to be fiber related, either, just be creative & have fun!  Gift card, chocolate, beads, notecards… whatever makes you happy!

If you don’t have any yarn you can part with, please join us anyway, we’d love to just hang out with you.  It’s always a fun night & you’re welcome to join!!!

January 2020 Meeting

When: January 23, 2020 at 6pm
Where: IHOP
30200 US Hwy 19 N, Clearwater, FL 33761

Come join us for our first Guild meeting of the year. This meeting we will discuss knitting ergonomics!

We will also get the first pattern for our afgan/throw KAL. To get started on the first boarder, please see below.

Make an Afghan or Throw Blanket:
Every month you will get a new stitch at the meeting to add to your blanket.
Needles: You will need size 8 or 9 sized needles.
Yarn: Any worsted weight yarn, around 2000 yards, depending how big you want to make it.
Depending on the size you want, cast on 174 stitches for a throw or any multiple of 6 (ex 174 + 6 = 180). (I have a lot of yarn and I want it big so I cast on 198 stitches on size 9 needles.) You will receive the stitch of the month pattern in a picture plus written and charted directions, for those who want to learn how to read charts.

What to bring to the January meeting:
Choose your yarn. You can also make each section a different color or just solid if you want.
Cast on your stitches and knit 6 rows.
